Camera Finance PDF Print E-mail

Arranging camera finance for freelance cameramen, camera hire companies and broadcasters is by far the largest part of our business. Whilst we can never be experts in your job we do understand your equipment needs, the financial pressures you face and the business decisions you have to make to keep ahead of the game.

Many of our freelance cameramen clients come to us when they realise they are spending more on hiring equipment than it would cost them to buy that equipment. You may not be able, or want, to buy every piece of kit you need – it will often make sense to keep hiring some – but the unbalanced figures are staring you in the face. You need to consider finance or leasing options for at least some of the equipment you use – but you fear being ripped off. We’ll come up with well-priced, well-judged options – and a quote that you can judge against others. Ask us to work out the best options for you.

For hire companies, business is busy – but dependent on having the right equipment in stock. With no time on your hands to take stock of that stock, you’ve been cross-hiring; the quiet niggling thought that it no longer makes financial sense to do so has turned into a loud and clear nagging. You realise it’s time to consider finance or leasing options to reign in costs. But finding time to work out financial forecasts, calculate what you can afford to pay, go the bank – and decide how to explain it in terms the bank will understand …. it seems impossible. If only you could talk to someone who understands what you do. We do – and we are just a phone call away

Broadcasters, small or multinational, often find themselves out of budget or with capital constraints that make it hard to invest in essential equipment. They need a creative way to finance their equipment needs. Rental with the right to buy suits some; others need to consider options that allow them to buy off their balance sheet. We can help you decide what would be best for your business so do get in touch

Whether your needs are for a few thousand pounds or several million, we can advise you on which finance or leasing deal would be best for you. Find out more about us before you decide or contact us to see how we could help you.

Case studies:

  • Buying to use and to rent: A freelance cameraman wanted to upgrade his camera and lens equipment. Thanks to a lucrative contract for a series with a major broadcaster, the camera and lenses were effectively paid for the year but he wanted to supplement his income by renting the equipment to others when he was not shooting. We arranged a hire purchase finance deal for £100,000 of prime lenses and £75,000 of camera equipment spread over three years.
  • Saving on hire charges: A camera crewing company needed to kit out a vehicle as a small mobile OB and editing unit, to save on hire charges. We arranged finance for £200,000 enabling them to spread the cost over five years.
  • Starting out: A self employed Steadicam cameraman needed to buy his first kit. He had a list of credits and good references but no trading history in his own right. We arranged a finance deal for £30,000 for his first purchase; he is now on his third lease having happily paid off his first.
